Official Statement on the Humanitarian Crisis in Syria
Official Statement from NAAMA on the Humanitarian Crisis in Syria
December 10, 2024 After years of unrelenting violence, Syrians both within the country and across the diaspora remain united by a shared hope for a brighter future. This fragile moment offers an opportunity to strive for peace, stability, and a better life for all Syrians. The National Arab American Medical Association (NAAMA) stands firmly for peace, reconciliation, and the healing of Syria as the nation grapples with the aftermath of a devastating war. NAAMA recognizes the severe humanitarian crisis gripping Syria, including the plight of detainees, the unimaginable suffering of hundreds of thousands of civilians, and the urgent need to rebuild a functional healthcare system. Over these years, the Syrian people have endured immense hardship compounded by the destruction of their homes, infrastructure, and livelihoods. Acts of external aggression on Syrian territory, including Israeli strikes that exacerbate this devastation, are deeply concerning and must be condemned. As an organization committed to humanitarian aid and advocacy, NAAMA is determined to stand in solidarity with those in need. We are actively working to identify sustainable and impactful ways to provide support, including partnerships with trusted local and international organizations to ensure aid reaches the most vulnerable communities. NAAMA has consistently responded to humanitarian crises with care and determination, whether in Gaza, Lebanon, or other regions in turmoil. Today, we reaffirm our commitment to bringing relief, healing, and hope to those affected by the ongoing crisis in Syria. We call on our members and supporters to join us in advocating for increased humanitarian assistance, raising awareness about the Syrian crisis, and supporting efforts to provide relief on the ground. Together, we can contribute to rebuilding Syria and offering its people a path toward recovery and renewal. As NAAMA’s plans and initiatives progress, we will provide updates to keep our community informed. In the meantime, we encourage everyone to remain engaged, informed, and proactive in supporting Syria during this critical time. |
