July 2025
Dear NAAMA Members and Supporters,
Warm greetings to each and every one of you, our valued members, supporters, and friends around the world.
As always, NAAMA remains steadfast in its mission: to advance the professional, cultural, and humanitarian contributions of Arab American medical and healthcare professionals; to foster medical education of the highest standard; and to build bridges of collaboration and understanding within the global health community..

Earlier this month, we proudly hosted the 34th International Medical Convention in the historic city of Dublin. This highly successful gathering reflected our shared commitment to global health and cross-border collaboration. With 120 medical professionals, 60 students, 47 distinguished speakers, 2 in-depth symposia, and 3 vibrant social functions, the convention embodied the spirit of NAAMA’s vision: excellence, community, and advocacy.
This year’s Global Health theme resonated through every keynote, panel, and discussion, drawing voices and expertise from around the world. Our partnership with Trinity College Dublin was instrumental in producing such a high-caliber program, and we extend our sincere gratitude to Trinity College for its collaboration and warm welcome.
One of the most impactful moments was the keynote address by Dr. Ghassan Abu Sitta, whose powerful words shed light on the devastating destruction of Gaza’s healthcare system, the collapse of its biosphere, and the systemic starvation faced by its people. His message reminded us all of the urgency to stand in solidarity with the oppressed and to speak out for health equity and human dignity everywhere.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to all 47 speakers for their diverse, thought-provoking contributions; to our dedicated volunteer students, who ensured the program ran smoothly; and to every member of the planning team whose commitment made this convention exceptional:
• Dr. Rouba Ali Fehmi, Convention Chair
• The Scientific Committee, led by Dr. Nidal Moukaddam and Dr. Mahmoud Loubani
• The Communications Committee and NAAMA NextGen Team
• Our tireless Manager, Ms. Rouba Samman
We also extend our deepest appreciation to our collaborators—PalMed Europe and the University of Michigan Center for Global Health—for elevating the scientific discourse, and to our sponsors, whose support made the convention fiscally successful and sustainable.
No words can truly capture the warmth and genuine hospitality we received from the Irish people. The choice of Ireland as this year’s destination could not have been more fitting. Through the social program—immersing ourselves in Ireland’s rich history, proud traditions, and soul-stirring music and dance—we connected our members, families, and the next generation to stories of resilience and solidarity. It was profoundly moving to witness how Ireland’s history of struggle and triumph echoes the hope and steadfastness of the Palestinian cause.
As we look ahead, NAAMA remains unwavering in its promise: to deliver the highest-quality medical education, to build enduring professional and personal networks, and to foster a shared sense of Arab culture and identity wherever we gather.
We invite you all to join us for our next milestone: the NAAMA National Convention in Washington, DC, this October 10–12. Together, let us continue to grow, connect, and uplift our community.
Thank you for being the heart of NAAMA.
Warm regards,
Raed Al-Naser, MD
President, NAAMA
