Obesity is currently considered the most prevalent nutritional disorder of children in the United States. It is also a major public health crisis all over the world causes a wide range of serious complications and increases the risk of premature illness and death later in life, raising public-health concerns. Our first step will be raising the knowledge of Arab Americans about the risk of obesity and the importance of healthy diet, screen time, and physical activity. Next steps will take in consideration identifying and establishing the right interventions that might help to keep the health and well being of our community. NAAMA has received a grant funding a new obesity research that will help educate our population on the potential dangers that obesity presents.
